Preparing Your Photos for Scanning
Follow these steps to ensure the best results and safe delivery of your photos:
- Use a brand new, sturdy box — reused boxes may break during shipping.
- Remove all photos from frames, albums, envelopes, and sleeves. No staples, paper clips, or sticky notes.
- Photo sizes accepted: 3”x3” to 8”x10”. Polaroids must be separated; very thick or cardboard-mounted photos cannot be scanned.
- Only prints accepted. No negatives, slides, or other media.
- Organize by size. Bundle photos of the same size together (e.g., all 4x6s).
- Scan in Order option: If you need photos scanned in a specific order, add this paid service. Include numbered bundles or index cards for labeling — no Post-its or scraps.
- No glued, sticky, laminated, or odd-shaped items.
- Face all photos up and right side up.
- Optional: Wipe gently with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove dust.
- Flat photos scan best. Curled or bent photos may appear hazy or out of focus.
- Rotation service: Vertical photo rotation is available for an extra $0.06 per scan.
📦 How to Pack Your Photos for Shipping
Follow these simple guidelines to keep your photos safe and ready for high-quality scanning.✅ Packing Do’s
- Use a brand-new shipping box for maximum protection.
- Pack tightly — fill any empty space with paper or padding to prevent shifting or crushing.
- Seal securely with plenty of strong shipping tape.
-
Bundle photos in groups of 100–150 using rubber bands.
🚫 Packing Don’ts
- Do not reuse old boxes — they lose strength and can collapse in transit.
- Do not use non-shipping boxes (like shoeboxes).
- Avoid packing peanuts — they crumble, stick to photos, and can cause dirty scans.
- Skip masking or Scotch tape — only use strong shipping tape.
- Do not place photos in baggies — they shift easily and don’t provide enough protection.
